that may no longer be the case.
·
There are currently 85 Prescription Drug Discount Cards from
which consumers must choose.
·
Representative Sam Farr stated that Medicare was designed to
fail.
·
The law does not allow the purchase of prescription drugs
from Canada or Mexico, however the top ten drugs prescribed are processed
outside of this country.
·
The advice was to purchase Long Term Care Insurance.
Chair Stone also reported that PHAT
(Progressive Housing Advocates T?) issued a letter naming the Commission as one
of the sources they reported their discontent of the local housing situation.
Commissioner Sinclair reported that there is a Los
Angeles woman trying to gain a temporary disability parking permit to use after
she has her nails done.
New Commissioner Edmonds introduced himself. He is 24
years old living in Santa Cruz and became interested in disability rights when
he became disabled from an accident. He works in Assembly member Laird’s office.
New Commissioner Heylin introduced himself to the
group. He is a long-time resident of Brookdale and has been involved in
environmental issues. He discovered the Commission when he called to complain
