3.0 Announcements
Michael Bradshaw of CCIL reported that the Office of the
Patient Advocacy (OPA) funding has allowed for assistance in understanding
health coverage. CCCIL has been providing education to the community on
services available from the OPA, including assistance in complaint resolution.
Bradshaw distributed literature packets, which are also available in Spanish
and Chinese.
Commissioner Ferr resigned due to life changing
events.

The Commission approved May’s meeting minutes with corrections.

Commissioners Reports
Vice Chair Bush reported on the new building on
Cathcart and Front Street in Santa Cruz where accessibility requirements were
overlooked. The building inspector admitted that a mistake was made and now
requirements include that the building owner is responsible for zero step entry
showers if a tenant requires it.
Chair Stone reported on presentations and
activities he participated including:

An appearance on the cable show ‘Voices’.
·
A presentation at a Capitola City Council meeting.
·
Attendance at a media training in San Francisco and active
participation on the ADAPT internet line.
·
Participation in a CDCAN tele-meeting.
Future activities include presenting to the Board of Supervisors on IHSS cuts and participation with Committees in Sacramento meeting to redesign Medi-Cal. Chair Stone distributed literature on a retroactive cut on section 8 housing.
7.2 Coordinator’s Report

Reported that Jonathon Adler was looking into the
possibility of distributing the State mandated Polling Place survey.

Announced the award ceremony for the Terry Brickley
Education Enhancement Scholarship will be Friday, May 21, 2004 at the Sesnon
House in Aptos.
·
The next meeting will be in Watsonville.
